Angela Dalton

Auckland City Councillor

CASE STUDY

Angela Dalton

Auckland City Councillor

In 2010 she won the election to the Super City and started working as the Deputy Chair of the Manurewa Board. It was at this point that her career as a politician really took off and today, she serves as Councillor of the Manurewa-Papakura Board.

One of the things Angela has since pursued is a law degree which she is completing part-time. “After leaving school so early, I felt I had missed out on academic opportunities, and I wanted to do something that would allow me to better execute my governance responsibilities. I’m really enjoying  the degree, the skills I’ve learned help me in debates and allow me to better understand other peoples’ political positions as well as Council’s risks and liabilities”

Our Brief

Angela needed digital content production, social media support and a new website to help share her message around her role as an Auckland City councillor, South Auckland resident, mum and grandmother.

We were tasked with creating a platform to help extend Angela’s messaging about her beliefs, community connections and what she represents.  Angela chose the name 2BeBold as a signal towards her ability to empower women and those less fortunate to stand up and be heard.

Our Results

This required a new website, photography and video applications. The website was designed to showcase the various elements of Angela’s work within her local community and wider responsibilities as an Auckland City Councillor for the Manurea-Papakura ward.

A new set of studio photographs were commissioned to capture Angela’s warm, open and professional image. You can view the archive of these weekly VLOG’s on Angela’s website by clicking the button below

View Vlog Videos

As part of an ongoing programme throughout the year, Adjacent Communications facilitated the production of a weekly video blog (Vlog) which was a week in review of the activities of Angela in her local community and the higher-level issues facing the Auckland City Council. These are designed to hear “Angela’s Angle” on the issues directly from her. We then edited the recordings and scheduled these for distribution on the website and through Angela’s Facebook Page.

Our Brief

The agency was commissioned to re-align the well-established Cuisine Magazine print brand and its online web space.  This allowed for cleaner and clearer structures to the content navigation for users while increasing the opportunities for advertisers and partners to be showcased alongside the appropriate content.

More About Cuisine

Cuisine is the only food, drink, and hospitality publication (and website) in New Zealand that encompasses all aspects of lifestyle, products, and experiences targeting the industry and consumers at the point at which the market converges. With key connections to industry leaders and businesses, along with our leading award programmes, Cuisine offers the only true connection that provides a channel and platform for messaging throughout New Zealand.

The print runs of each edition of the publication vary due to factors such as subscriptions, extra order copies for partners, and other variables.

To determine the reach of the publication, the most reliable indicator is the third-party independently audited statistics gathered by Nielsen. These statistics consistently show that Cuisine tops its category against our competitors and is second only to National Geographic among all other bi-monthly publications.

This means that every eight weeks, over 6% of all New Zealanders aged 15 years and above read Cuisine, and 7.8% of New Zealand household shoppers specifically read it.

Cuisine’s average readership figures have grown consistently year on year for the past three years.

34% of our readers live in Auckland and are predominantly Female aged 48+, with a household income that is 8% higher than the national average of $119,700. The average personal income is also 10% higher than average at $70,100 p.a.

66% of Cuisine readers cook in their own home and 7 out of 10 Cuisine readers say the way their home looks is very important to them..

25.1% of Cuisine readers hold one of the 3 “NZ Top occupations’ such as Senior Government Official, Business Manager/Executive, Business Proprietor/Self Employed

Cuisine readers spend an average of 55.6 minutes reading each publication with 40% reading for between 1-2 hours.

Case Studies

St Andrew’s Village is situated in Glendowie, Auckland on 14 hectares of tranquil park-like grounds with a panoramic view of the Tamaki Estuary. They provide a full range of temporary and permanent care options and retirement living choices. Owned and operated by an independent charitable trust, they have offered holistic and caring lifestyle alternatives for over 65 years.

Our Brief

The agency was commissioned to look at all aspects of St Andrew’s Village communication touch points and content. This meant a refresh of key areas such as the overall design aesthetic for all materials, both online and offline, and to compliment the experience of being at the village itself.

The end results was a website overhaul with new navigation, design, structure and content.  This was created with a new byline added to the existing logo and the creation of a set of icons to represent the areas and services within the village.  This was enhanced by creating new high end video and photography content to compliment the messaging and tell the St Andrew’s Village story.

A range of of external elements were established including new advertising formats, signage for special events, and digital television display screens for sponsored activities outside the village.

The agency also maintains the social media program allowing those on the outside to keep up to date with the residents, staff, and activities going on inside.

Icon Series

St Andrew's Village offers four key areas of service, and in order to quickly identify these, a unique design was created for each. They are coloured to show the care and independent groups using the brand colours of blue and green.

Take a virtual tour and step inside the world of St Andrew's Village and learn more about the people, places and spaces that encompass this world-class retirement location.
